My work has focused on consumption, ideals of consumption and especially symbolic and aesthetic aspects of politics and consumption. At the moment I'm taking part in a research project Imagining Economy in Finnish Advertising and Journalism funded by Academy of Finland. This research project studies cultural representations of economy in the Finnish public sphere from the early 1950s to the new millennium. My subproject pays attention to the very short visual narratives used in moving images of market economy. In my doctoral dissertation (2006) I focused on images of consumer society in Finnish short films, and later work on representations of the household and frugality as well as on Finnish cultural ideals.
In National Consumer Research Center I account to publications, communication and information service.
