Mika Pantzar, CV

Head of research, Ph.D.

Mika Pantzar is an economist (Ph.D. in 1991: Helsinki School of Economics). He is born 10.5.1956 at Helsinki. In the 90s' he has been working in National Consumer Research Centre (head of research, University of Art and Design Helsinki (professor) and Helsinki School of Economics (senior researcher at Academy of Finland). He acts currently as a head of research in National Consumer Research Centre. Mika Pantzar has published over 100 articles within consumer research, design and technology studies, rhetoric of economic policy, food studies, systems research, future studies etc. His book Kuinka teknologia kesytetään (Domestication of technology. From science of consumption to art of consumption, Tammi, 1996) was awarded both by the Finnish state (Valtion tiedonjulkistamisenpalkinto) and the Finnish Science Council (Tieteellisten seurojen neuvottelukunnan vuoden tiedekirja kunniamaininta). His latest book Tulevaisuuden koti. Arkisten tarpeiden keksiminen (The Invention of Needs for Future Home. Otava, 2000) is used as a textbook in many universities both in sociology and marketing departments.
