She has taught environmental and social responsibility issues at the university level since 1992. Examples of recent courses include Business, Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility at the Helsinki Summer School and seminars on Sustainable Consumption for PhD students at the International Institute of Industrial Environmental Economics, Lund, Sweden and the Centre for Consumer Science at the Gothenburg School of Economics and Commerical Law. She has been teaching the Korean Executive MBA course Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management in Seoul since 2005.

Professional activitiesEva Heiskanen has worked at the Helsinki School of Economics and at the National Consumer Research centre for a number of years in various positions. Se has also worked as researcher at the Finnish Foundation for Research and Development (SITRA), the University of Tampere and as assistant editor of the international journal, Science Studies. She is currently research professor at the National Consumer Research Centre and adjunct professor (docent) at the Helsinki School of Economics.
Academic activities and positions of trust
Eva Heiskanen serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Industrial Ecology (JIE). She has been on the organizing committee and workshop organizer of a number of international conferences, including the 10thth International Conference of the Greening of Industry Network, Göteborg 2002 and the ProAct 2005 Conference Innovation Pressure. She has served as examiner and as member of the examination committee for a number of doctoral and licentiate theses (University of Helsinki, Chalmers Technical University, Turku School of Economics, University of Tampere). She has also served as member of the Board of the Network Academy on Futures Studies, the Board of the Environmental Social Science Graduate School and the Scientific Committee of the Helsinki Institute for Science and Technology. She is an industrious ad hoc reviewer for many journals, as well as some grants evaluation committees. Other positions of trust have included membership in a number of national-level committees and working groups convened by the Ministry of Environment. Eva Heiskanen has also taken an active part in international standards work through the national committees for ISO Technical Committee 207 (Environment) and CEN Technical Committee 261 (Packaging). She has also provided consultancy to the Nordic Council of Ministers and Kesko plc.
Supervising, teaching and lecturing activities
Eva Heiskanen taught the course Business and Environment at the Helsinki School of Economics annually from 1997 to 2003, and at the University of Kuopio (1998, 2003). She has given the course, Business, Environment & Corporate Social Responsibility at the international Helsinki School of Economics Helsinki Summer School 2005-2007. Other courses include Environmental Synergies, Research Methodology, Bachelor’s Thesis Seminar and Master’s Thesis Seminar (Helsinki School of Economics), Conditions for Sustainable Product Culture (University of Industrial Arts and Design) and Consumption and Environment (University of Jyväskylä, University of Helsinki). She gives yearly about 10-15 individual invited lectures and presentations at foreign and Finnish universities, ministries, research institutes and state agencies.
